Keep your home powered — quietly, automatically.
A home battery switches on instantly and automatically when the grid goes down, keeps your essentials running, and recharges from your solar panels. AEC Solar installs FranklinWH and Enphase batteries, matched to what you want to keep running.
Solar alone shuts off in an outage. A well-designed battery keeps your essentials running when the grid goes down.

A generator has one job — make power when the grid goes down — and then it sits idle all year. A well-designed battery does that and works for you the rest of the year. Here's the honest side-by-side.
| Home battery, designed right | Standby generator | |
|---|---|---|
| Noise | Silent or near-silent | Loud engine, about 60–70 dB during the outage |
| Fumes / CO | None | Combustion exhaust and carbon-monoxide risk |
| Turns on in an outage | Instant and automatic — no gap | Automatic, with a start-up delay |
| Works with solar | Yes — recharges from your panels | No |
| Value on a normal day | Stores solar power and can trim peak rates | None — idle until the next outage |
| Maintenance | Minimal — no oil, filters, or engine | Regular oil, filter, and engine service |
| NY incentive potential | Possible where eligible | Generally none |
| Multi-day outage, no sun | Limited by capacity | Runs as long as fuel is available |
What could you keep running — and for how long?
Pick what matters, set a battery size, and toggle solar. Watch the estimate update live.
What do you want to keep on?
One FranklinWH aPower 2 is about 15 kWh; Enphase IQ 5P/10C are 5 and 10 kWh.
Estimated backup on your essentials
≈ 3 days
about 75 hours on these essentials
With solar, a daytime outage keeps refilling the battery, so essentials can last well beyond this.
Rough estimate from typical household draws — your real backup time depends on your specific appliances, design, and weather. We'll map it precisely.

A battery sounds like a big project — permits, electrical, “is my panel even okay?” Almost none of that lands on you. Here's the whole path.

Quiet, automatic backup. No switches to flip, no fuel, nothing to maintain.

The design matters more than the brand.
We don't believe every home should get the same battery. We're battery-agnostic — we start with your home, panel, solar, utility, budget, and what you want to keep running. No house brand. No default. Just the right fit.
“A battery is only as good as the system designed around it.”
AEC Solar has designed and installed solar and energy solutions across New York since 1991 — 5,000+ installations. We help you avoid the two common mistakes: an undersized battery and a system backing up the wrong half of your house. As a SPAN authorized dealer, we can add circuit-level smart control.

The right one depends on your home, solar, and goals. That's the conversation we'll have — here's the short version.
FranklinWH
Best for: smart whole-home backup
A battery with a brain — automatically pauses power-hungry loads so your essentials last longer. AEC Solar is a FranklinWH certified installer.

How smart load management stretches your backup
The power goes out on a hot afternoon. Instead of every appliance draining your battery at once, a smart system keeps your fridge, lights, internet, and medical devices on — and temporarily pauses what can wait, like the EV charger. When solar returns, those loads can come back. Your backup protects the right things automatically.

Pause during outage
Your battery may cost less — and earn a little back.
New York is one of the better states for home storage. Amounts depend on utility, location, system size, and eligibility — and they change — so we'll confirm what currently applies to your address.
NYSERDA storage incentive
New York may help cover part of a battery's cost through a storage incentive paid through the installer as a lower project price. Funding and amounts can change. We confirm eligibility and handle the paperwork.
ConnectedSolutions
Eligible homeowners may earn an annual incentive for allowing their utility to draw a limited amount of stored power during peak summer periods. We'll confirm the current program, territory, and eligible equipment for your address.
Incentives and utility programs vary by utility, location, system size, and eligibility, and they can change. This is general information, not a guarantee of savings or qualification. There is no federal residential tax credit for home batteries in 2026. AEC Solar will review the programs that currently apply to your home before you decide.
The questions homeowners actually ask.
Will a battery power my whole home?+−
Whole-home backup means the battery is wired to your main panel — not that every appliance can run at once. We size for your priorities and can use smart load management so large loads take turns.
How long will it last in an outage?+−
It depends on battery size and what you run. Essentials can last much longer than central air, an electric range, or EV charging. Solar can refill a properly designed system during daylight.
Can solar recharge it during an outage?+−
Yes. During a daytime outage, a properly designed solar and battery system can keep refilling from the sun, extending backup beyond the battery's stored capacity alone.
Is a battery better than a generator?+−
For many New York homes, a battery is quiet, automatic, fume-free, low-maintenance, and works with solar. A fueled generator can run longer during a rare multi-day outage with no sun. We can also design systems that integrate both.
Which battery brand is best?+−
There is no single best brand. The right battery fits your panel, solar, utility, budget, and backup goals. AEC Solar compares suitable options instead of defaulting every home to one product.
Do batteries need maintenance?+−
Very little. There is no fuel, oil, filter, or engine service. Modern home batteries are monitored through an app and designed for hands-off use.
Can I add one to existing solar?+−
In most cases, yes. We review your inverter and existing setup, confirm compatibility, and handle any required utility interconnection update.
How much does battery backup cost?+−
Cost depends on capacity, equipment, and your electrical setup. We provide a real number after a short assessment and explain any current New York incentives and financing options.
Ready to keep your home powered — no matter what?
We'll look at your panel, solar, utility, and what you want to keep running — then recommend the system that actually fits and walk you through any New York incentives. No pressure, no one-size-fits-all package.
